Feedback is essential in helping students assess the depth of their own knowledge and in order for them to adjust their own learning strategies. Informal assessment techniques can be a valuable tool for generating timely feedback for the students. Each Informal assessment technique comes with its own benefits and drawbacks and must be applied properly to reduce misunderstanding and to improve student motivation. This PDF document produced by aft.org lists more than 17 activities and assessment techniques. I will be applying some of these techniques in my non-credit courses to help improve the depth of my students understanding of the subject.
